!!ATTENTION!! There will be *spoilers* so if you haven’t watched the final season, don’t read this post yet!
We completed the 17 Stages of Joseph Campbell’s Monomyth on the series! If you missed the conclusion, go read, Part 3! Okay, guys! So I finally watched Once Upon A Time, Season 7 on Netflix. Let me just say, wow! That season was very crazy; full of so many twists and turns, the writers tried very hard to keep the audience at the edge of their seats up til the last few minutes of the finale episode. I definitely cried and I laughed and towards the end, I saw a glimmer of what OUAT once was for me, but let’s dive in.
It took me a while to get through the season for a few reasons: #1) the original cast was gone, you see a couple OG’s pop up here and there but it wasn’t the same cast that I grew to love #2) there were a lot of unexpected changes that took place this season; a new time period, new location, a lot of new actors… #3)Speaking of actors, I honestly could rant. I feel like there were too many new actors being used and being disposed of the entire season and some just seemed to be props 4) I just didn’t get the same feeling or vibe that OUAT used to give me. It used to feel like this warm safe place to land and it felt very foreign for me to watch like it was a completely different show and it made it hard for me to give it a chance.
One of my biggest disappoints was the character, Henry. I left season 6 eager to see him as an author using his powers and becoming a hero and that didn’t happen at all. The audience was even given a teaser where Henry’s eyes changed and it seemed like his powers were evolving in Season 6. He doesn’t even use his powers the during Season 7 at all.
Everyone had on-screen time for their romance but Queen Tiana and Prince Naveen. They were the one couple that I was looking forward to seeing on-screen. They got thrown a bone at the end with him embracing her but no kiss, no romantic adventure, no reason for them to even be together and they didn’t have Queen T, even go back to her kingdom at all, she was just a prop the whole season used to advance the show for Jacinta or Cinderella, her best friend. I was pretty disappointed when every other main character had a function and more screen time but Tatiana.
This will be a short post because there was a lot of still good things that happened in the show and Rumple and Regina got their happy ending, the final season was just not what I expected and it made me kind of sad but that’s how it is with most shows isn’t it? The series finale is never what you expect and it’s always bittersweet. I will always love OUAT. I wish we could have gotten a spin-off but I’m grateful for the years these actors dedicated to create such an amazing storyline and characters. This show will be truly missed.
Until next time,

New blog post coming soon!!!
