Humanity.

“To be human is to be beautifully flawed”, a phrase that I have grow to love over the years. I read that it was said by Eric Wilson, but what this does this quote really mean? Imperfection is what makes us real. To exist, feel pain, and still smile is the beauty of humanity; the stroke of genius, the raw, pure, and vulnerable complex idea that is the very moral fabric of our being. To be human is to be flawed and to reach for something that once may have been thought unattainable; to choose to live a life that is difficult in order to be happy than to live to obtain the happiness of others around you and to neglect your own passions.

Elanor Roosevelt once said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”, and I would like to add to that. No one person, idea, feeling, or circumstance can define your progress, triumph, or downfall, only you can do that. We give power to what we can’t control out of fear of the unknown or out of the present appearance of an obstacle that is standing in our path. We can get so wrapped up in our own world that it takes a small act to penetrate the bubble that we have created in order to notice what is happening outside of us and our inner world. Sometimes we have to encounter something unknown or unexpected in order to grow. We have to make the conscious decision to accept the change even if it means leaving our comfort zone and traveling to a new place.

Who knows the outcome? How can we strive for a goal or push forward if we continue to count away at our shortcomings? Maybe it takes perspective, rearranging the way we look at our past and circumstances and try to find something good in all of it. It’s often times the easiest to see the bad parts and overlook the good. My biggest dream that I want to achieve before my time is up on this earth is to make sure I can speak life to someone and remind them to never give up on their dreams no matter how hard it is, to fight until your last breath for everything that you believe in and to never let anyone else’s opinion stop you from doing what you know in your heart that you were meant to do.

I continue to see beauty in the world even when it seems to be turning to it’s darkest points. There are so many wars going on right now out in the physical world but also in the mental and spiritual realms inside of us. We look at news stories or the internet and have to decide whether to believe that it is real or if it is some fabrication of a distorted reality. We turn on the television and seek hidden truths whether consciously or subconsciously. What we see or hear seems almost specially crafted to instill fear in us; however, we are not human without the struggle and we cannot grow without questioning who we are, the world around us, and to discover our own hidden truth. We want to be moved, to feel, to love and to be loved, and to matter, that’s what it means to be human.

Sometimes the only way to stop the war in our hearts and our minds is to learn and know ourselves. We have to desire not only a change in the world but in ourselves. I feel like self-acceptance is the true step towards power and ascension of the mind. We can only move forward by acknowledging the past, learning from it, but never forgetting it; to be alert to what is going on around us and choosing to not be silent, and to never stop hoping or lose sight of whatever dream or dreams that live inside of you. I feel that the true meaning of life and the purpose of our existence is to give birth to unique ideas that positively impact others in only the way you specifically can. We realize our destiny when we know ourselves and we move forward into completion.

Well, that’s all I have for you guys today. I had a strong message inside of me that I wanted to get out to my readers. It may have been long-winded but I hope it helps someone out there who reads this. I want us to grow as people, to learn from each other, and to chase our dreams.
