Sometimes music is the only thing that makes sense in my life anymore. Sometimes it is the only thing that can help me get through the hard parts of adulthood.
Sometimes I find myself singing at work because it is the one thing I know I can gather strength from. I usually have a bad day every day so singing gets me through it. Sometimes I’ll end up singing a song that makes me want to drop everything and dance. Especially if it’s from a musical.
Music for me is truly an escape. It takes you to another world where you just feel free to move, to dance, and express your individuality.
Music was my first love.
Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing”, has been stuck in my head for the past two weeks. I first heard it on Glee and so I’m late hearing this song but I’m so glad that I did. Whenever a song gets stuck in my head it’s usually because it resonates with me for someone reason or another.

For me it is an anthem letting everyone know that you didn’t break me no matter how hard you tried.

Molly Ringwald. Pretty in Pink. This will always be one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite scenes.
There is a fight within everyone. There is so much beauty and pain in this world, I am grateful for the arts where I can watch a movie or a TV show that relates to my life or play a song that I can listen to and cry.

I was that theater-kid in high school and that movie analyst and I still am because art and music is are fundamental parts of the human experience. So put on your favorite movie and play your favorite song. Whatever you do, find pleasure in the little things and take some time to enjoy your life.

Xo,
Nina.
